Why can we bring people together and still feel lonely? We cook the delicious food and pour the good wine with loving company, but still we can feel distant and hungry for something. We're there when no amount of love can save us. And in those moments some of us take the call of the void. It's nothing malicious. We're not there to get back at a cruel world or a friend turned enemy. There's something that can't be sated by all the pleasures of the world. It's disturbing, it's alarming, it's upsetting. But some of us choose to go. Like life itself, the pleasures of this world are finite. We're not talking about cowardice.

But what is it?
